As global seafood consumption continues to rise, China remains the world’s largest consumer market and a key driver of industry growth.
According to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), China accounts for approximately 45% of global seafood consumption, far surpassing other major markets. Annual per capita consumption stands at around 40–41 kg, nearly double the global average of approximately 20–21 kg.
Notably, consumer preferences in China are shifting rapidly towards premium and live seafood, particularly in major cities. This high-value segment has stringent requirements for quality, traceability and supply chain capabilities.

China is also Vietnam’s largest seafood export market and a key growth engine for the industry. With its geographical proximity, shorter transit times and cost-efficient logistics, Vietnam is well positioned to serve this market. Lobster the fastest-growing category in Vietnam’s seafood exports has emerged as a strategic product that closely aligns with evolving consumer demand in China.
KLC Seafood Responds to Evolving Market Dynamics
Recognising this trend, KLC Group has identified seafood as a priority investment sector, with KLC Seafood serving as a strategic pillar of the Group’s ecosystem.
KLC Seafood operates a fully integrated, end-to-end supply chain spanning aquaculture, procurement, processing, logistics and export. The company currently:
- Owns and partners with more than 556 hectares of farming areas across Cam Ranh, Van Ninh and Song Cau;
- Has an annual supply capacity of approximately 6,000 tonnes;
- Focuses on key products such as ornate spiny lobster and grouper, which are well aligned with demand in the Chinese market.

KLC Seafood’s ecosystem is strengthened by two member companies:
Phat Loi – Aquaculture and Supply Management
- Ranked the No. 1 seafood exporter in Khánh Hòa in January 2026, according to VASEP data;
- Recorded export turnover of approximately USD 35.3 million, accounting for around 30% of the province’s total export value;
- Plays an important role in the lobster supply chain, currently the industry’s fastest-growing product category.

Gia Thinh Phat – Processing and Product Standardisation
- Operates a HACCP-compliant processing facility, ensuring effective quality control and compliance with export standards.
The integration of these two companies enables KLC Seafood to operate a highly integrated supply chain that remains uncommon in the industry. This model ensures quality, traceability and supply stability all essential requirements for serving the Chinese market.
Long-Term Investment and Development Priorities
Given the clear market opportunity, KLC Group is directing strategic investment into KLC Seafood across four key areas:
- Expanding farming areas to strengthen control over supply;
- Developing logistics and live seafood transportation capabilities to serve the Chinese market directly;
- Standardising processes and traceability systems to meet increasingly stringent import requirements;
- Strengthening its commercial presence and B2B partnerships in China to expand market share.
Strategic Vision
With strong operational capabilities, extensive farming areas and a fully integrated production ecosystem, KLC Seafood is well positioned to become a leading company in Vietnam’s premium seafood segment, particularly in the Chinese market.
